ASHLAND — It’s been said that April showers being May flowers. January showers bring, well, potential flooding.
The National Weather Service office in Cleveland has issued a hazardous weather outlook for north central Ohio for the next few days, based upon a storm system that is going to bring in heavy rain and strong winds.
The area of inclement weather includes Richland, Ashland, Knox and Crawford counties.
It could be worse. It was a mid-January snow storm a year ago that dumped a foot of snow across the area in a 24-hour period.
The NWS said rain will spread across the area Thursday night and continue through Saturday night.
Rainfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected and will cause rises on area rivers and other minor flooding.
Additionally, strong gusty winds are possible Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.
High temperatures during the next few days will be in the 50s and 60s, the NWS said.
