ASHLAND — At Monday’s meeting, the Ashland City School District board of educators approved a rate of $80 to all substitute teachers for each full day of work.
Select schools in the district previously paid substitute teachers $70 per day. The approval universalizes a rate of $80 for all Ashland City Schools.
Superintendent Doug Marrah also delivered updates on the Keith Wygant Memorial Field House.
“We used it for practices last week, and even more continuing into this week, so it’s great to see more kids in there,” said Marrah.
Dr. Marrah also commented that the renovations at the high school are on schedule.
During the public comments section of the meeting, Linda Rayfield, retired teacher, questioned the board about an odd smell in Taft Intermediate School. Dr. Marrah explained that the situation was dealt with.
“We’ve done air quality testing in a nut shell,” said Dr. Marrah. “The odors have been resolved.”
Some of the fresher faces on the Board of Education also took the time to express their eagerness to visit the schools and get to know the district.
