JEROMESVILLE — Even Ashland County Park District’s smallest park has much to offer.
Though only four acres in size, Hopkins Landing features plentiful opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. It’s ideal for anyone looking to fish, canoe, kayak or hike.
Located at 1954 County Road 175 in Jeromesville, the park includes direct access to the Jerome Fork of the Mohican River and a short quarter mile trail.
Ashland County Park District (ACPD) director Stephanie Featheringill suggests starting at nearby River Walk Nature Area, located at 596 Township Road 1500, for kayak and canoe trips. The park is connected to Hopkins Landing, so those who start at River Walk, can end their trip at Hopkins Landing.
“Then, if you pack a lunch, there’s a nice picnic table at Hopkins Landing,” Featheringill said.
The four-acre park is also positioned near Cool Springs Wildlife Conservation Park.
The park is named after former owner Jim Hopkins, who wanted his property to become a park for the public to enjoy, Featheringill said.
It opened in 2010 and drew a crowd of approximately 50 people gathered for the occasion. They met at River Walk with kayaks and canoes and rode together down the river to Hopkins Landing.
