ASHLAND — The Ashland Public Library has announced plans to feature a special guest on June 26 with a video on their Facebook Page.

Popular children’s author and illustrator Todd Parr will appear in a video, reading his book, “Be Who You Are.”

For anyone unfamiliar with Parr’s work, he is the author and illustrator of more than 50 books for children including the New York Times bestselling “The I Love You Book,” “The Earth Book” and “The Thankful Book.” His books have received numerous awards and are available in over eighteen languages throughout the world.

Kindness and empathy remain at the forefront of Todd’s books and in his collaborations with SF-MARIN Food Bank, Stouffer’s, People Magazine and several companies working towards helping people, animals, and promoting literacy.

The video of Parr comes after an original in-person presentation that was planned earlier in the year in collaboration with Ashland City Schools. Parr was scheduled to speak at both Reagan and Edison Elementary Schools during his visit. He was also scheduled for an evening presentation hosted by the Ashland Public Library at Archer Auditorium.

Unfortunately, the event had to be postponed due to the closure of the schools and the library as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Ashland Public Library has had continued contact with Parr and his team, the hope is to reschedule the event in the near future.

In the meantime, Todd Parr has offered a recorded video for the library to post and share with the community. The video features Parr reading his book, “Be Who You Are.” The book is all about self-expression and encourages children to embrace their individuality. The library will be sharing the video through their Facebook page June 26th at 10 a.m.

The Ashland Public Library encourages the community to visit @AshlandPublicLibraryOhio on Facebook to view, like, comment, and share the video.

The Life section is supported by Brethren Care Village in Ashland.
