LOUDONVILLE — Tyler MacQueen, foundation gifts coordinator at Ashland University’s Ashbrook Center, will be the guest speaker during a special Thursday evening meeting of the Loudonville Rotary Club.
The 7 p.m. meeting will be virtual on Zoom software.
His topic will be “The Last Best Hope: An Historical Perspective on American Presidential Elections.”
He will offer an examination of the 2020 presidential election by providing a larger historical perspective given by the election of 1800 and 1860 — two campaigns considered by many historians and political scientists to be among the most controversial and nastiest presidential campaigns in American history.
The presentation will demonstrate that while we live in disheartening times, our shared history shows American people can rise above any and all challenges, club officials said.
A native of Loudonville, MacQueen graduated cum laude from Ashland University with a bachelor’s degree in history and political science after graduating from Loudonville High School in 2015.
Prior to his time at Ashbrook, Tyler was in the U.S. Senate for Ohio Senator Rob Portman and as a Fellow for Passages, an organization whose mission is to facilitate trips of Christian college students to visit the State of Israel.
