To celebrate the holidays, Richland and Ashland Source compiled a short list of locally made holiday music and music videos.
See music by three area musicians and bands below.
Be sure to listen local this holiday season. Wishing you and your families a Merry Christmas.
1. “O Holy Night” by Coma Love
You won’t want to miss this holiday favorite performed by the Mansfield-based Coma Love and Katie Harrigan.
Coma Love includes Allie Carter Nicolas and Aaron James Nicolas.
Their rendition of this song is truly magical. Give it a listen.
2. “Come with me this Christmas” by Waylon O’Donnell
Ashland Source’s own correspondent Waylon O’Donnell set out to write an Ohio-themed Christmas song this month.
Adding flavor, he threw in a dash of French romance, too.
If you live somewhere between Cleveland and Columbus, give this one a listen.
O’Donnell had released a single with country music singer, Georgette Jones earlier this year.
3. “Christmas Music: The First Snow” by Oddepoxy
It’s been a few years since Oddepoxy released this holiday-themed music video, but it’s a classic.
If you don’t crack a smile when watching this video, you likely found coal in your stocking earlier today.
The members of this Mansfield-based band found a truly charming way to capture the holiday spirit. They can be seen sipping hot chocolate, baking cookies and decorating stockings throughout the more than two-minute long video.
I’d recommend watching this every year, but especially now, when travel is frowned upon, you’ll find this video really makes you feel at home.
BONUS: “Away in a Manager” by The Neighborly
Arissa May and Brock Lawley make up the American modern folk duo, the Neighborly, and though neither May or Lawley were raised locally, they both have Ashland area ties.
May’s mom, grandma and great grandma were all born and raised in Ashland, but they moved to Pennsylvania before May was born.
As an adult, Lawley lived and worked in North Central Ohio as a radio talk show host and journalist. He moved to Pennsylvania a few years ago for a job.
They seemed destined to find one another and sing together. Their music is truly a delight.
