ASHLAND — The Convention of States national grassroots organization has awarded Michael D. Mowry its Challenge Coin for exemplary service & dedication as Ohio State Director.
The Ohio Project has been focusing on state legislators to support the use Article V of the U.S. Constitution to correct problems within the federal government.
Presenting the award, Mark Meckler, President and Cofounder of Convention of States, said, “Mike Mowry joins an elite group of national volunteers and supporters who have received the Challenge Coin.
“The criteria for this award is based on an individual’s total commitment to all phases of our efforts to pass an Article V, U.S. Constitution, resolution at the state level.”
If passed in both chambers of the State Legislature, Ohio would join other states in calling for a convention of the states to propose amendments to the Constitution as authorized by Article V.
Mowry is the owner of Mowry Construction, an engineering and construction company located in Ashland, Ohio. He has been involved with the Ohio Convention of States Project since 2016. In December 2017, he was appointed State Director. Shortly thereafter, he initiated a new structure of the volunteer organization within Ohio. His objective is to support and educate volunteers in order to make them more effective with legislators.
Three hundred coins have been minted prior to the die being destroyed.
The coin has a bust of George Mason (known as the “Father” of Article V) on one side and an America Flag on the other.
Mowry is a graduate of Ohio Northern University with a degree in civil engineering. He also holds a Masters’ Degree in business administration from Rockhurst College. He is married and the father of three sons and two grandchildren.

The Convention of States Project is currently organized in all 50 states with more than 5 million volunteers, supporters and advocates. Ohio has over 5,700 volunteers and more than 73,000 residents who have signed a petition supporting a Convention of States Resolution.
The grassroots organization is committed to addressing three major issues involving the federal government: 1. Fiscal Responsibility; 2. Reducing the Power, Scope and Jurisdiction of the federal government and 3. Term Limits for Congressional members, federal judges, including Supreme Court Justices and federal agency appointees. Since 2013, fifteen (15) states have passed COS resolutions: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
