MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP – A Georgia man was arrested after a bizarre incident in Ashalnd County on Monday night, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The incident occurred on Interstate 71 near Mile Post 188 in Ashland County during a traffic stop.

Troopers stated that on Monday, March 2, at approximately 7:25 pm, a 2003 Infiniti FX35 SUV was northbound on I-71, and pulled over for a speeding violation. The vehicle, driven by Kaylinn C. Green, 22, of Houston, Texas pulled over onto the left shoulder, median side.

As the trooper was speaking with the driver, the right front passenger, Demetrius Allen Wright, 27, of Cairo, Georgia opened the door, exited the vehicle and ran across all three lanes of I-71. Wright ran into a wooded area east of I-71 where he hid for approximately two hours.

With the assistance of the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and K-9 unit, the State Patrol’s Aviation section, and the State Patrol’s Special Response Team, Wright was located hiding up a tree.

Wright was apprehended and taken into custody without further incident. Wright has an active felony warrant for burglary out of Deland, Florida.

This incident is still currently under investigation and charges for Wright are pending.
