High wind

“March winds and April showers

Bring forth May flowers.”

Gusty north central Ohio already has us halfway to this proverb, words first recorded in 1886.

And it’s about to move even closer, as March shows us it has no intention yet of going out like a lamb.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland has issued a hazardous weather outlook/high wind watch from late Thursday night until Friday morning across northern Ohio, including Richland, Ashland, Knox and Crawford counties.

Warmer southwest winds will blow consistently from 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 60 miles per hour possible.

Damaging winds like these could bring down trees, limbs and power lines. The NWS said widespread power outages are possible, which means making sure your electronic devices are charged up.

Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles, the NWS said.

Headed into the weekend, winds will continue, though somewhat abated, though there is a chance of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Temperatures will reach into the 50s and 60s each day.
