ASHLAND — The Ashland Public Library has announced that browsing the library shelves will resume on Monday, April 19.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience as we have navigated the changes put in place by the State of Ohio, along with the uncertainty of the current circumstances,” said Emily King, the library’s community engagement coordinator
The library is currently open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These hours are subject to change as time progresses, King said.
King said the library will continue to sanitize all items upon checking them in. Staff will also be periodically sanitizing seating areas and public computers after each use.
Masks will still be required for those inside the library, along with social distancing.
“The safety and health of our library patrons and staff is the number one priority,” King said.
New and old items will be available for checkout in correspondence to browsing returning.
Toys, Launchpads, Movie Binge Boxes, and a new item, Wonderbooks, will be making their way to library shelves.
“Wonderbooks are a combination of a physical book and audiobook that reads the story to you as you follow along. The library has picture books, first readers, and juvenile chapter books available as Wonderbooks,” King said.
The extension of the library, Bookmobile and Outreach, will also be making changes as browsing returns. Bookmobile has Community Stops scheduled beginning on April 28. For a full list of stops, visit the library calendar at www.ashland.lib.oh.us.
“The library is excited to allow patrons to browse the shelves again and cannot wait to see you here,” King said.
