Ashland County Mental Health & Recovery Board

ASHLAND — The Ashland County Mental Health and Recovery Board has announced the selection of David C. Ross as the next Executive Director to succeed Steve Stone, who retired on Dec. 31, 2020.

Ross was approved at Tuesday night’s meeting of the Board. Ross currently serves as the Interim Executive Director and previously served 17 years as the Associate Director and Director of Planning and Evaluation for the Board.

He is a graduate of Akron University with both a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Community Counseling. He also holds a License as a Clinical Counselor with Supervision Endorsement through the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.

“We are pleased to have a candidate with David’s credentials lead the Board. His long ties to the Ashland Community and his expertise with the Mental Health and Drug and Alcohol system in Ashland County make him the perfect choice for this position,” Search Committee Chair Tom Gaus stated. “We look forward to a smooth transition of leadership.”

Ross will start his new position immediately.

The Mental Health and Recovery Board is an eighteen-member board and contracts with Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, Catholic Charities of Ashland County, and Ashland County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse to provide services for the residents of Ashland County.
