ASHLAND COUNTY — A 23-year-old Lucas man died late Saturday night in a one-car crash on Ohio 603 in Mifflin Township, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Alexander Charles Switzer was southbound at 10:58 p.m. on Ohio 603 near mile post 2, driving a 1992 Ford Mustang, when he failed to negotiate a curve, troopers said. The car left the road and partially overturned after striking a ditch.

Switzer, who was not wearing a safety belt, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger, Madison Kaitlyn Carr, 21, of Mansfield, was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.

Ohio 603 was closed for approximately 2 hours, according to the patrol. Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were Mifflin Township Fire and EMS and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash, according to the patrol.
