JEROMESVILLE — Hillsdale’s Emma Fowler, Bryn Grabowski and Lacey Fickes all earned spot on the Wayne County Athletic League first team when the All-WCAL squads were announced earlier this week.
Norwayne’s Kennedy Kay was selected the WCAL Most Valuable Player and Norwayne coach Bob Young was selected the Coach of the Year after leading the Bobcats to a 20-7 record. Norwayne was a perfect 14-0 in league play.
A senior, Fowler was Hillsdale’s catcher and clean-up hitter. Classmate Grabowski was a pitcher and utility player. Junior Lacey Fickes was Hillsdale’s leadoff hitter and center fielder.
The Falcons were 17-10 overall and 12-2 in WCAL play and won another sectional championship before falling to Mogadore in the Division IV district semifinals at Akron’s Firestone Stadium.
Hillsdale, Norwayne and Northwestern each had three All-WCAL first team picks. Audrey Franks, Bri Troyan and Avery Garver were first team selections for the Huskies, who finished 8-6 in league play. Norwayne’s Reese King and Anna Metsker joined Kay on the first team.
Waynedale’s Kelsey Wolfe and Kaitlyn Miller also earned spots on the first team, as did Dalton’s Tess Denning and Smithville’s Hannah Baker.
Hillsdale senior Jerrika Plice and freshmen Mollie Goon and Belle Dalton earned spots on the second team. They were joined by Northwestern’s Emma Ewinbg and Daylie Rickard, Norwayne’s Lily Rieman and Julia Larrison, Waynedale’s Brooklyn Schlabach, Chloe Wolfe and Brooklyn Yoder, Dalton’s Lexi Vazquez and Chippewa’s Courtney Stewart.
