WESTERVILLE — Crestview’s Reagan Garrett took another step up the podium.

Making her third appearance at the Division III state track and field meet, Garrett placed sixth in the discus competition Friday morning at Jim McCann Stadium with a throw of 126-feet, 6-inches.

Garrett qualified for the state meet as a freshman in 2018 and placed 15th. She returned to state as a sophomore and placed seventh in 2019.

“I was hoping for a top-finish, but I’m happy that I made it to the podium and finished out strong,” said Garrett, who will throw collegiately at Walsh University. “I was hoping for a throw in the 130s, but I’ll take it.

“I finished seventh as a sophomore, so I improved.”

Cincinnati Madeira’s Yvonne Colson won the event with a throw of 144-2. Like Colson, Garrett’s top throw of the day came on her first attempt of the competition.

“I’ve been to the state meet before, but you still get nervous,” Garrett said. “I’m good with the experience. Being here is good enough for me.”

Mapleton’s Jevin McQuate finished 14th in the pole vault competition after clearing 12-6. Mohawk sophomore Zaiden Fry won with a vault of 14-6.
