MILTON TOWNSHIP — A Polk man was killed Friday night in a one-vehicle crash on Township Road 50 (Miller Road) just north of County Road 59 (Sterling Road) in Wayne County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Daniel A. Richardson, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, the Patrol stated.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:55 p.m. in Milton Township.
According to authorities, Richardson was operating a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer SUV. While traveling south on Township Road 50 the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway striking an embankment after ramping a small stream. Richardson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle at that time.
Assisting on scene were the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Sterling Fire and EMS, North End Garage, and the Wayne County Coroner Office.
At this time, the crash remains under investigation and alcohol/drugs do not appear to be a factor, the Patrol stated.
This is the seventh fatal crash within Wayne County Ohio this year.
