LOUDONVILLE — Electricity on part of South Wood Street and two traffic lights in the Village of Loudonville went out Tuesday evening because of a fallen tree on power lines located on South Wood Street, said John Burkhart, superintendent of street maintenance in Loudonville.
The Loudonville Police Department received notice of the fallen tree and outage at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. Brian McCauley said. The street maintenance department had begun to hook up generators to power the traffic lights as of 6:20 p.m.
No traffic accidents occurred as a result of the traffic light outages, McCauley said.
The fallen tree pulled down the power lines and broke four utility poles, said Eric Fulk of the Ohio Edison, who was on site fixing the wires Wednesday morning.
There were 21 houses lost power on the side of South Wood Street that intersects with West Jackson Street. Power is expected to be restored to those homes by approximately 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Fulk said.
The outages happened as the village and surrounding areas saw thunderstorms, rain showers and winds.
