NORTH RIDGEVILLE — A truck driver was killed early Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle collision on the Ohio Turnpike, according to the Milan Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Paul G. Rodak, 37, of Carol Stream, Illinois, died in the incident.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Milan Post is investigating a fatal crash involving two vehicles which occurred at approximately 3:31 a.m. on the Turnpike. The crash happened between state Route 57 and Interstate 480 (mile post 150.6) in North Ridgeville of Lorain County.
Troopers determined Road in the 2019 Volvo semi tractor-trailer was driving westbound on the Turnpike when it drove off the right side of the road and side swiped a Hyundai Santa Fe that was disabled on the shoulder. The Hyundai Santa Fe was occupied by Kassie Cadle, 30, of Ravenna.
After impact with the disabled vehicle, the Volvo semi tractor-trailer continued off the roadway and struck a guardrail and bridge pillar for the state Route 83 overpass.
Rodak was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed by mechanical means, ultimately suffering fatal injuries at the scene. Cadle suffered minor injuries and declined medical treatment.
The westbound lanes of the Turnpike were closed for approximately three hours.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by North Ridgeville Fire & EMS, Lorain County Coroner’s Office, Ohio Turnpike Infrastructure Commission and Rich’s Towing.
The Patrol urges motorists to find a rest area or other safe place to pull over and stop if they find themselves drowsy behind the wheel.
Really drowsy??? He was not drowsy!!! I’m sorry the lady was high on meth and ran out of gas sticking out on the highway!!! I know cause I’m his fiancé and mother of his 5 year old now!!! On the police report says she admitted she was high on meth ( or how she didn’t do a drug test cause she did it the day before supposedly) she also stole her boyfriends car to get high and lost gas so tell me why she didn’t have hazards on?????????! Or called AA??? Explain to me why this article is bullshit cause in his bash cam in the truck you can clearly see him switching lanes cause of others that had hazards on and he switched back and she didn’t have hazards on are you serious saying careful driving and being drowsy??! Wtf????
