LOUDONVILLE — The Flxible Company was a galvanizing employer during the World War II era in Loudonville.
In addition to the prestigious Army Navy “E” Award that was presented to the Flxible Company (twice) for outstanding production and contributions to the war effort, the company was also honored with a number of other military awards during the Second World War.
The first was the Minute Man Flag, in honor of over 90% of all Flxible employees subscribing 10% of their salary to purchase war bonds.
The second was the Guidon Award, honoring the proficiency for the Plant Protection Force (Military Police) stationed at the factory.
Not only was Flxible the first factory in Ashland County to receive the award, but also one of less than 5% of factories in the entire country to receive it.
Next, and most notably (after the E Award), was the Army Air Forces Approved Quality Control Rating.
This honor signified that Flxible’s products were so well produced that the government was confident they would pass all quality control standards, and government inspectors would not be needed.
