OLIVESBURG — Crestview and Lucas defended their home fields for two rounds of the playoffs.
The Cougars and Cubs will hit the road next Saturday as their quests for state championships continue.
Playoff games shift to neutral sites beginning with this week’s regional semifinals. Crestview will play Carey at 7 p.m. Saturday at Ohio Health Field at Harding Stadium in Marion, while Lucas will meet Dalton at Jack Miller Field at Triway Stadium.
The second-seeded Cougars (12-0) advanced to the Division VI, Region 22 semifinals with a 28-14 win over No. 7 Colonel Crawford on Saturday. Third-seeded Carey (10-1) blanked No. 6 Defiance Tinora 20-0.
Top-seeded Lucas (10-1) didn’t attempt a single pass in Saturday’s 37-0 win over No. 8 Malvern in the Division VII, Region 25 quarterfinals. No. 4 seed Dalton (9-2) roughed up No. 5 Independence 61-7.
In addition, Arlin Field in Mansfield will host a Division II, Region 7 semifinal game Friday night.
Top-seeded Big Walnut (12-0) will take on No. 4 Massillon Washington (10-2) at 7 p.m. Friday Big Walnut advanced with a 38-7 win over Canal Winchester while Massillon Washington pounded Westerville South 50-19.
In the other Region 7 semifinal, 13th-seeded Wooster (7-5) will try to continue its storybook run through the postseason against No. 7 Green (9-3) at Canal Fulton’s Jim Shalmo Field. Wooster upset No. 3 Olentangy Berlin in the opening round before stunning No. 6 Dublin Scioto 20-10 in the regional quarterfinals.
In Division III, Region 10, No. 2 seed West Holmes (12-0) will take on No. 3 Rocky River (9-3) at 7 p.m. Friday at Lodi Cloverleaf’s Gene Clark Stadium. West Holmes rallied for a 28-25 win over No. 7 Tiffin Columbian in the regional quarterfinals.
