LEXINGTON — As gaudy as they are, the numbers only tell a fraction of the Gage Potter story.
The Richland Source boys soccer Player of the Year, Potter’s value to the Lexington program can’t be quantified by looking at his statistics.
A senior and four-year letterman, Potter was a two-time captain and a member of two Final Four teams. Lexington was a combined 68-14-4 in his four seasons with four district titles and two regional crowns.
“He was our leader on and off the field,” Lexington coach Peter Them said. “He was huge in getting the most out of his teammates. He was our emotional leader.”
The high-scoring forward ranked among area leaders with 30 goals and 20 assists this fall. He was selected the Ohio Cardinal Conference Offensive Player of the Year leading the Minutemen to their eighth OCC title. He capped his career by earning a spot on the All-Ohio first team.
Potter ranks fourth on Lexington’s career goals list with 55 and is second on the career assists list with 55.
“Gage knows what it takes to win and be successful,” Them said. “Without him, this season wouldn’t have been what it was.”
Potter is joined on the All-Richland Source first team by three other All-Ohioans.
