PLAIN TOWNSHIP – A West Salem woman was killed and two others were injured after a three-vehicle crash on Monday night, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Courtney A. Kovacs, 22, of West Salem, was killed after the crash on U.S. 250 near Smyser Road in Wayne County, the Patrol stated.
Robert M. Michalski, 44, of Nova, was transported to Wooster Community Hospital with serious but, non-life threatening injuries, the Patrol reported. Isaac C. Brown, 22, of Jeromesville, sustained minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
According to the Patrol, at approximately 10:19 p.m., a 2007 Honda Pilot, driven by Michalski, was westbound on U.S. 250. The Honda Pilot went left of center into the path of a 2014 Ford Focus going eastbound driven by Kovacs. After the collision, the Ford Focus went off of the right side of the roadway and the Honda Pilot spun out and was struck by a 2008 Acura RDX, driven by Brown, who was going eastbound.
Snow had begun collecting on the roadways on Monday night. U.S. 250 was closed for approximately four hours.
Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were: Wooster Township Fire and EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. The crash is currently under investigation.
