OSR Blood Prison for Christmas

MANSFIELD — Vic Amesquita will be home for Christmas — to scare the hell out of you.

OK, so not on Christmas itself, exactly. But Amesquita and his fright experts will offer a unique holiday experience this weekend (Dec. 10-11) at the former Ohio State Reformatory.

Dubbed the Blood Prison Christmas Incarceration event, Amesquita said he hopes it becomes an annual event similar to the group’s long-running Halloween-season spooktacular inside the iconic former prison at 100 Reformatory Road.

“This event is Christmas meets Halloween,” he said Thursday. “Blood Prison already has the Warden’s Widow and all of her crazy guards and inmates, but now she welcomes in Krampus and some evil elves for the holidays.

“We’re very excited to run this event for the first time. Last year was going to be the first time but we had to shut down due to COVID-19,” the haunt manager said.

“We want to make this an annual event and the crew is really excited to get back to all the fun of scaring,” Amesquita said.

The haunt will be open Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased at https://www.bloodprison.com/ or onsite.

“Onsite ticket sales are cash only and we do have ATMs available,” Amesquita said. “Tickets are $20 for general admission or you can skip the line and get in faster with an Ultra Lightning Pass for $50.”

He said indoor line waiting will be available with low temps dipping into the 30s both nights.
