Ohio State Highway Patrol car

MONROE TOWNSHIP — A Loudonville man died Sunday evening during  a motorcycle/minivan collision on U.S. 36 in Monroe Township, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 8:15 p.m., the patrol said.

Kelly K. Bush, 51, of Loudonville, was driving a 1985 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on U.S. 36, according to troopers, who said Sherrie Y. Shively, 46, of Mount Vernon, was driving a 2008 Dodge Caravan westbound on on the same road.

Troopers said Bush drove left of center and collided with Shively’s vehicle head-on.

Bush was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the patrol, who said Shively sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Bush was not wearing a helmet and Shively was wearing her seatbelt, according to troopers, who said alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Fire/EMS, Fredericktown Fire/EMS, Monroe Township Fire/EMS, and the Knox County Coroner’s Office.

The traffic crash remains under investigation by the patrol.
