SANDUSKY — A 20-year-old Castalia pilot suffered non-life threatening injuries after a plane crash on Sunday, according to the Sandusky Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Kaden R. Keegan was transported to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the Patrol reported. Keegan described high winds as a contributing factor into what caused the aircraft to spinout and ultimately nosedive into the field.
The incident took place at 1:53 p.m. at Hinde Airport in Huron Township of Erie County.
Troopers arrived on the scene and discovered that the single-seat ,single-engine aircraft, a Mini-Max Ultralight, crashed in a field just after departing the Hinde Airport.
The Patrol stated that impairment is not suspected. The crash remains under investigation. The Federal Aviation Administration was notified and will be assisting with the investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and Huron Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
