HOWARD — No one was injured, but a 20-year-old man was arrested Monday after a shooting incident in Howard, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

After interviews with suspects and witnesses, one person — Logan Wayne Hart, 20 — was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail without incident.

Knox County Prosecutor Chip McConville said Hart is expected to be charged with felonious assault and shooting over a roadway on Tuesday morning.

Deputies were called to a residence on Cotton Street at 12:15 p.m., according to an initial incident report filed by the KCSO, “on the report of a disturbance involving a firearm.”

Deputies were informed on the way there that “the firearm had been fired during an altercation,” the report read. They arrived on the scene and immediately detained two suspects.

Knox County Sheriff David Shaffer told Knox Pages there is “no evidence of anyone being struck by gunfire” during the incident.

“There was a brief lockdown at the East Knox school due to the proximity,” Shaffer added.

Cotton Street is located in downtown Howard, just one block away from the East Knox Local Schools campus.

“Nothing took place on school property,” Shaffer continued, “and it did not involve any students.”

Shaffer said the incident is still under investigation, and “additional charges are possible.”
