ASHLAND – Lutheran Social Services, an organization offering a continuum of services in 27 counties in Ohio, has announced that Scott Lang is an Honoring Excellence winner.

Lang works at Lutheran Village Assisted Living in Ashland.

This award is given annually to outstanding employees that demonstrate vision, innovation, leadership and compassion in their role, by the Ohio Assisted Living Association (OALA), representing over 590 licensed Assisted Living Communities.

Lang won the award as Outstanding Culinary Manager. According to a press release from OALA, Lang represents the values the Ohio Assisted Living Association looks for in Honoring Excellence nominees.

The Executive Director at Lutheran Village nominated Lang in a letter.

“Scott has a true passion for pleasing people through food. His greatest joy comes when he finds that one special meal that makes a resident happy, the executive director stated.

“During the pandemic, Scott, in conjunction with our activity department, created special themed meals and served them throughout the building when we were unable to have normal communal dining. He served a western BBQ, complete with Cowboy Beans and a Hawaiian Luau featuring authentic Hawaiian foods.”

Winners of the award are nominated by their community and selected by a committee of the Ohio Assisted Living Association Board of Trustees.

The Life section is supported by Brethren Care Village in Ashland.
