ASHLAND — Ashland Public Library invites all ages to dive into the depths of the ocean through reading and activities this summer, June 6 to Aug. 6.
Starting Monday, June 6, patrons can sign up for the Summer 2022 Challenge one of three ways:
• Online at ashlandoh.beanstack.org.
• By downloading the Beanstack app from the App Store or Google Play.
• Stopping by the Public Services desk at the library.
The library is making it easier than ever to reach your reading and activity goals by having one challenge for all ages. There will be both online and traditional paper reading log options.
It’s easy to get started with the Beanstack app simply create your account, find your library, select the Summer 2022 reading challenge, and start logging.
Reading and completing activities will earn participants rewards from a “treasure trove,” filled with interesting goodies for all ages. Patrons will also earn tickets which can be placed into a drawing for the chance to win a number of experience/activity based prizes.
Summer isn’t only about the reading and activity challenge though. The library also has countless events and programs throughout the community.
Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. library staff will host a special performance at the Guy C. Myers Memorial Bandshell at Brookside Park. There are eight Family Programs for all ages with topics like music, animals, magic, and pirates.

The library will also be partnering with multiple organizations to help bring family fun to the Ashland Community. StoryWalk Ashland, the popular reading trails located in some Ashland County Parks, have returned. You can find StoryWalks at Freer Field, Byers Woods, and the Fire Company Nature Cabin.
The library will once again be at United Way of Ashland County’s Fun Fridays, where the Bookmobile will be with fun giveaways, materials to check out, and Summer Reading supplies. Ashland Chautauqua programs will also be happening with special programs at the library for multiple age ranges.
Finally the library is excited to announce that Touch-A-Truck, the annual wrap up to Summer Reading will be returning this year. Kids of all ages are invited to climb on, sit behind the wheel of, and explore a variety of fantastic vehicles, many from local businesses and organizations.
