ASHLAND COUNTY — A 23-year-old Jeromesville man died in a one-vehicle crash early Thursday morning on County Road 30A near Mohican Township Road 1802, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Benjamin Johns was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol, which said he was not wearing his seat-belt at the time of the crash.
Troopers were notified of the crash at 4:55 a.m.
During an investigation, it was discovered a 2001 Honda Civic was southwest on County Road 30A. The Honda went off the left side of the road, struck a mailbox and a tree before coming to stop.
Johns was the only occupant inside when the crash occurred, troopers said.
Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were Jeromesville Fire and EMS, the Ashland County Sheriff’s Department and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
