ASHLAND – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Ashland County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.

U.S. Route 250 culvert replacement

NEW IMPACTS – U.S. 250, between Smithville Western Road and Camp Road, will close Monday, Aug. 1 for a culvert replacement. There will be two posted detour routes: 1.) U.S. 250 east to I-71 south to U.S. 30 east back to U.S. 250, and 2.) U.S. 250 east to U.S. 42 south to SR 60 south to U.S. 30 east to U.S. 250, and reverse. Estimated completion: Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022.

Ashland County residents should note the current closure and project work at the U.S. 250 and SR 89 intersection will still be in effect during this new closure.

The contractor will be revising and adding additional detour and closure signage for the new closure and will enhance the existing signage prior to the closure. This closure is being implemented at the same time at the U.S. 250/SR 89 intersection closure to minimize the duration that U.S. 250 is closed between Ashland and Wooster.

U.S. Route 30 Reduced Conflict U-Turn – U.S. 30, just west of Township Road 1255, will have single lane closures for an intersection improvement project at the intersection of U.S. 30 and SR 603. The reduced conflict U-turn (RCUT) configurations have been installed and are now in operation. U.S. 30 eastbound and westbound will have daytime lane closures as needed to complete work. A minimum of one 12-foot lane in each direction will be maintained. Estimated completion of entire project: August 2022

State Route 95 – State Route 95, from SR 39 to SR 60, will have single lane closures for a chip seal project. Traffic will be maintained by flaggers. Estimated completion: August 2022

U.S. Route 250 intersection improvements – U.S. 250 at the SR 89 intersection will have lane closures for an intersection improvement project. The project will improve the intersection sight distance by lowering a crest vertical curve to the west of the intersection and widen the radii at the intersection to better accommodate truck turns.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

U.S. 250 at the SR 89 intersection, between Township Road 523 and Township Road 355, is closed for reconstruction work at the intersection. The detour route for eastbound traffic on U.S. 250 will be I-71 south to U.S. 30 east back to U.S. 250. The detour route for westbound traffic on U.S. 250 will be U.S. 30 west to SR 60 north to U.S. 42 north back to U.S. 250.

One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times on SR 89. Traffic from SR 89, northbound and southbound, will be able to cross over U.S. 250. Traffic is maintained with portable traffic signals.

Estimated completion: September 2022

U.S. Route 250 roundabout – U.S. 250, at the SR 60/Faultless Drive intersection, will have lane closures for a roundabout project. This project will convert a two-way stop-controlled intersection into a single-lane roundabout.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

The intersection is closed to SR 60 northbound motorists and motorists traveling east from Faultless for 90 days. The detour route for northbound motorists will be SR 60 to SR 511, north on SR 511 to U.S. 250, west on U.S. 250 to SR 60, and reverse for southbound motorists.

U.S. 250 will remain open to motorists.

Estimated completion: September 2022
