ASHLAND— The Ashland City Schools Board of Education will soon select an interim superintendent to serve Jan. 1, 2023 – July 31, 2023, according to a press release from the board.

Board members entered executive session at their Aug. 1 work session to plan for selecting an interim superintendent, which will happen in the “near future,” according to the press release.

“We appreciate the support of the community as the Board of Education works through their process to always hire the best person for each position available in the Ashland City Schools,” Board of Education president Zach Truax said in the release.

Current superintendent Doug Marrah recently announced he plans to retire and start a new job on Jan. 1, meaning that the district will need an interim superintendent for six months until the board can legally appoint a new permanent superintendent on Aug. 1, 2023.

To that end, the board will “complete a thorough interview process” in spring 2023 to select a new permanent superintendent that will serve a three year term.

“The Board of Education is pleased to have a strong treasurer and many other administrators in place to continue with the established commitment of fiscal responsibility to the taxpayers,” Truax said in the release.
