ASHLAND — Ashland Public Library’s annual Touch-A-Truck concluded Saturday, Aug. 6 after a two-year hiatus.

Hundreds of children and parents turned out to explore vehicles from a number of local businesses and organizations.

Those who kindly donated their time included: Abers Towing and Crane Services, The Ashland Police Division, The Ashland Fire Division, The Ohio State Highway Patrol, Donley Ford of Ashland, The Ashland County’s Sheriff’s Office, Ashland City Schools, The Ohio Department of Transportation, Simonson Construction Services, Moritz Materials Inc, and Armstrong.

There were plenty of fun opportunities including collecting stamps from each participant to earn a reward from the library, operating a mini-crane, and painting the bucket of a bulldozer. Children were able to climb aboard large trucks, learn about the vehicle’s operation, and perhaps their favorite, honk horns.

The Friends of the Ashland Public Library set up a table to hand out coupons for a free children’s book from their book sale. Many visitors made their way indoors to collect their free book and to purchase materials that were up for grabs at the book sale.

Children were ecstatic to receive a new favorite book.
