ASHLAND — The Human Tractor Pull is a fun contest of speed generated by a team of individuals that seek to the antique tractor with a strong rope faster than the others in their division.
The contest is conducted by members of the Fair Board with equipment shared by members of the Ashland County Yesteryear Machinery Club.
Cash prizes were awarded to the top teams in each division with Zoie Gaus, the Ashland County Junior Fair Princess, presenting the awards. She is the great granddaughter of George Smith, the owner of the show-ready 1940 John Deere tractor that he has offered its use for the contest for many years.
Smith’s grandson Josh Boley, drove the tractor for all but one team this year when Smith was at the wheel for the team of his grandchildren. An antique garden tractor was driven by its owner was used for the youngest divisions before the largest crowd on record.
CORPORATE
1st with 13:40 seconds was the team of Terry Chronister, Clayton Purdy, Jered Moody, and Matt Landers.
2nd with 13:72 seconds was the team of Cloe Matz, Gabe Murawski, Cloe Miller, and Connor Meller.
WOMEN
1st with 16:06 seconds was the team of Audra Schoen, Belinda Weber, Janna Ours, and Brandy Koch.
2nd with 16.31 seconds was the team of Renee Twining, Arica Betson, Eddi Iceman, and Carrie Harpster.
7-10 YEARS OLD
1st was the “Little Farmers” team of Sheyenne Jennings, Abrey Windsor, Jenna Cartwright, and Vinson Orr.
2nd was the “Wee Sheepies” team of Jenna Cartwright, Vinson Orr, Chase Carpenter, and Haley Cool.
11-15 YEARS OLD
1st at 13:57 seconds was the team of Nick Cartwright, Grady Summers, Kailey Durow, and Trent Summers.
2nd at 17:10 seconds was the team of Mallory Betson, Rylee Windsor, Aubree Hess, and Oliver Harpster.
16 YEARS AND UP
1st at 12:52 seconds was the team of Connor Arbaugh, Wyatt Bechtel, Josh Bonfiglio, and Cameron Arbaugh.
2nd at 12:47 seconds was the team of Jacob Syx, Cadin Spreng, Dakota Luna, and Andrew Housholder.
