ASHLAND — Ashland Source reporter Dillon Carr stopped by the WRDL Studios on Thursday, Nov. 3 for the publication’s weekly segment on The Early Bird’s Word.
Carr covered three stories he had reported on recently for Ashland Source.
The first was about the Ashland County commissioners selling the former Pump House building that has sat vacant for years. Commissioners sold it to the city of Ashland for $300,000, which is about how much they’ve paid for it to sit vacant since September 2020.
The building will then be sold to the Ashland Community Improvement Corporation before being sold to Columbus-based Vision Development, who plans to demolish it and build up to 50 apartment units in its place.
The next story had to do with property acquisition, flooding and a bridge replacement along West Main Street. Officials are considering the purchase of up to four houses that get perpetually flooded in order to tear them down and fix the age-old issue.
He then spoke about Mike Pompeo’s visit to Ashland University, as part of the Ashbrook Center’s fundraiser. The former U.S. Secretary of State under President Trump is who planning a potential a presidential bid talked about the importance of patriotism, education and mocked political correctness during his keynote address.
