Issues like inflation, crime, reproductive rights and democracy itself drove Americans to the polls on Tuesday.
But what drove them to the polls in Ashland County?
To get a sense, Ashland Source asked voters at the Ashland County Fairgrounds a question: “What issues brought you out to vote today?”
Here’s what some of them said.
Rodney Adkins
“I really feel that the country, where we’re at right now — especially locally and nationally — we need to come together again. And there was a question that was brought to me, ‘What can the next year, next two years do after this midterm today? What can the results affect the next two years?’ And I feel that, as Americans, I have the privilege to help that go the way I want it to go. And this is 30 seconds of doing what I need to do.”
Desiree Colbert
“The state of everything right now is crap. It’s important that we vote, try to change it. Most things, all the basic things. Crime, economy, all the lies that we’re currently getting from current politicians.”
Aaron Pauly
“I came out to the polls today to express my constitutional freedom and vote. There’s some pretty big elections going on right now with our Supreme Court races and the Ohio Supreme Court and also Issues 1 and 2, so I felt that I needed my voice to be heard.”
Lori Shire
“I’m very concerned about the level of crime, inflation. Those are the big ones. I’m also really concerned about the schools and there are some policies that are coming through that are very liberal that are exposing kids to sexual content that is not age appropriate so I have very strong concerns about that.”
