ASHLAND — Mayor Matt Miller has released a list of the Ashland streets the city plans to resurface this summer, days after Ashland City Council unanimously voted to send the $2.6 million resurfacing project out to bid.

The list of 62 roads includes major thoroughfares, residential roads, cul-de-sacs, and a parking lot. Columbus Circle is the priciest resurfacing project on the list, coming in at an estimated $203,362.38. The cheapest is Willis Avenue, which will cost the city $4,700.06.

The list of roads could change depending on the bids the city receives in the coming weeks, Miller said.

The city is also looking to resurface Claremont Avenue for $5.1 million this year, making 2023 one of Ashland’s most expensive years — even with $2.4 million in grant funding for the Claremont project, Miller said.

Ashland’s resurfacing projects are also funded by an income tax levy that voters first approved in 2016 and renewed in 2020, extending it through 2025.

According to Miller, the city considers pavement condition, traffic volume and potential utility repairs when deciding which roads to prioritize for resurfacing

So far, 131 of the city’s 315 streets have been repaved “these last few years,” Miller said.
