MADISON TOWNSHIP — All four of Charles Canankamp’s children have experience working in food service.

Canankamp has worked in restaurants for more than 30 years and said he knew he wanted to offer fresh pizza and Italian food to his hometown.

“I bought this building pre-pandemic and it took a few years to get it up and running, but now we’re really proud to bring this to the community,” Canankamp said.

“I’m excited to work with my kids and other family members.”

Pronto Pizza, located at 914 Ashland Road in the Mad-Fit and Budokai Martial Arts plaza, celebrated its first month in business with a ribbon cutting on Friday.

The restaurant sells whole pizzas and pizza by the slice, as well as subs, salads, pastas and breads. Canankamp said his personal favorite menu item is “the works” pizza.

The name “Pronto Pizza” was inspired by the family’s customer service goals.

“Our ovens cook a pizza in three and a half minutes, so we want to get good food out quickly to our customers,” Canankamp said.

The restaurant will add patio seating for outdoor dining and currently offers drive-thru, carry-out and delivery. Pronto Pizza is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday–Saturday.

Canankamp plans to launch Café Pronto in the coming weeks to offer specialty coffees, smoothies, protein shakes and pastries. When the coffee shop is ready to launch, doors will open at 6 a.m. each morning.

Pronto Pizza and Café Pronto are on Facebook and can be reached at 419-589-7777. Orders can be placed in-person, over the phone or online at getprontos.com.
