ASHLAND — Ashland rolled past New Philadelphia on Tuesday night with an offensive explosion to record a 16-4 baseball victory at Bud Plank Field.
The OCC win over the reigning Division II Easter District champions pushes the Arrows record to 2-1.
Jon Metzger spearheaded the offensive eruption by going 4-for-4, including a three-run double and a fine play in centerfield.
The Arrows batted around in the first inning for seven runs, added another in the second and five more in the third.
New Philadelphia scored three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but were never able to get back in the game.
Luke Bryant picked up the victory for Ashland, allowing two hits and four runs in five innings with four walks and a strikeout. Ayden Baker took the loss for New Philadelphia.
The Arrows finished with 14 hits, with Metzger, Bryant, Kamden Mowry, Ethan Bunce, and Ethan Truax each managing multiple hits.
Clear Fork visits Bud Plank filed on Friday for a 5 p.m. game and the Arrows travel to Sandusky Perkins for an 11 a.m. start on Saturday morning.
