ASHLAND — The United Way of Ashland County recently conducted its 65th annual meeting at Mount Vernon Estates.

The annual meeting included the approval of last year’s minutes, installation of new Board Officers: Nicole Hawks as President, Todd Geren, Past President, and Chris Bevington as Treasurer.

Several retiring board members were thanked for their commitment and passion for United Way’s mission. Retiring Board members are Rod Cheney, Jeremy Harrison, Dennis Miller, and Dan Lawson. Two members are renewing terms Ryan Emmons and Todd Geren.

Incoming board members were presented and approved and include Kailey Bradley, Carrie Gough, Neil Hinkle, and Rob Klenk.

Stacy Schiemann presented the J. Robert Tipton Volunteer of the year award to Todd Geren. She stated, Todd has served two terms on the United Way Board and has graciously volunteered to serve a third term. Todd has provided consistency and stability to the board while navigating through a small thing called a pandemic, he gives guidance, but also allows room for our staff to lead.

In addition to his lengthy board service, Todd has also been our Ring In Spring Chair, he and his wife Krissy were our 2019 Campaign chairs, and he has remained a part of the campaign team in subsequent years. We are forever grateful to the time, energy, talent, and commitment he has lent to us during his time with United Way.” 

Dan and Lynne Lawson, 2023 Campaign Chairs concluded the meeting with their reflections on the campaign and thanked the community for all of their hard work in helping to exceed the campaign goal. Campaign Pacesetters raised $336,705 helping the community exceed the $850,000 goal. In total, $858,842 was raised for the 2023 campaign.

The top 20 companies helping to achieve this goal are in order: Centerra, PCA, BCU electric, Ashland University, UH Samaritan Medical Center, Chandler Systems Inc., Lake Erie Frozen Foods, Charles River Labs, Ashland City Schools, Park National Bank, Abbott Retirees and Alumni, Whitcomb & Hess, Cowen Truck Line, Brethren Care Village, Coldwell Banker Ward Real Estate, Donley Ford of Ashland, Appleseed community Mental Health Center, Comfort Control, Spire Advertising, Bendon, Inc. 

At the conclusion of the meeting Casey and Kelly Cooke were introduced as the 2024 Campaign Chairs.
