ASHLAND — The following briefs were compiled from the July 20 meeting of the Ashland County-West Holmes Joint Vocational School District Board of education meeting in the Board Room.
The following items of business were transacted by the Board of Education:
Accepted resignations of Pam Mowry and Jason Chio from the Ashland County-West Holmes JVSD Board of Education.
Mrs. Smith, Treasurer, administered the Oath of Office to the newly appointed Board member Kenneth Schuck as the Hillsdale representative.
Approved the agenda and any additions/deletions for the Regular July 20, 2023 Board of Education Meeting.
The Board recognized Katie Semo, Ohio Auditor and presentation of State Excellence in Financial Reporting award.
Kylie Eyedi, Senior, Early Childhood, E Education, Ashland High School, for competing at the National STAR Event Competition at the 2023 FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Denver, Colorado. Received Silver medal for Job Interview.
Under the Treasurer’s Consent Agenda the following were approved:

Under the Superintendent’s Consent Agenda the following were approved:
Approved participation in the Tri-County Educational Service Center’s Special Services Contract for Career Connections for the 2023-2024 school year.
Approved to use website and related technology resources, in compliance with SB89 RC 3313.482 as a method of “making-up” as many hours as needed for the 2023-24 school year through blended learning and Section C of the above RC 3313.482.
Approved to enter into a contract with the Tri-County Educational Service Center for School Nursing Services at a cost of $24,179.10 effective for the 2023-2024 school year.
Resolution was approved to enter into an agreement with Ashland County Sheriff’s Office for SRO/Dare Officer Services for the 2024 school in the amount of $56,400.00. The services are to be funded by Student Wellness funds.

Emily Harding, Agricultural Education Instructor, Ashland City Schools
Appointed Tina Zickefoose as Official Delegate and Kenny Schuck as Alternate Delegate to the 2023 Ohio School Boards Association (OSBA) Annual Meeting. The OSBA annual meeting will be held at the Capital Conference Nov. 12-14, 2023.
Resolution was approved to accept the bids for an Asbestos Removal Project for the Adult Education Center and to authorize the Superintendent and Treasurer to enter into a Contract with total Environmental Services, LLC for the work in the amount of $78,650.00 to be funded by the 003 Permanent Improvement Fund.
