ASHLAND — A bus with the Cleveland Browns’ logo on the side parked on the field at Ashland’s YMCA Saturday morning.
That’s because the YMCA in town became the site of Saturday’s Cleveland Browns Play Football Takeover.
That effort falls under Browns Youth Football, which aims to advance “the game of youth and high school football throughout Northeast Ohio with year-round programming for players, coaches, officials, and parents,” according to its website.
A net was set up, and cones at various distances from it. Children lined up before, after and between games to try their hand at throwing the football into the net. No matter what, they received a prize.
The big prize was a Browns jersey, which they received if they made it at all distances. But they also walked away with pencils, wristbands and Browns sunglasses.
