Vito D. Sparacio, Jr. of Ashland passed away early Friday morning, October 20, 2023, at
OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital at the age of 76.
Born Vito Danna Sparacio Jr., on August 19, 1947, in Ashland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Betty L. (Muck) and Vito Danna Sparacio, Sr. He was a veteran of the US Army serving 2 years. Vito was a hardworking man and retired from Mansfield Correctional Institute as a supervisor. After retirement, he worked as Security Captain at Newman Technology. He enjoyed fishing, skydiving, and camping. He enjoyed watching girls’ college softball, college football and especially enjoyed a good Western. Vito loved having his family around—especially his grandchildren. He will long be remembered as a strong, brave, caring man who was the ultimate prankster.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy Hobbs Sparacio; four children, Theresa (Steven) Rafeld, Michelle (Robert) Peck, Vito (Lori) Sparacio III and Amanda Williams; ten
grandchildren, Tyler (Kim) Rafeld, Courtney (Shane) Spoerr, Allison Cline, Vito Sparacio,
Brittany Sparacio, Logan Sparacio, Nathan Sparacio, Deondre Williams, Derek Williams and
DeLainey Williams; eleven great-grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters, Jane Ames, Antonia Palmer, Christina (Thomas) Iceman and Rebecca (Terry) Heimberger; two brothers, Anthony (Kathy) Sparacio and Christopher Sparacio; a special cousin, Robert (Kathy) Mack; and several nieces, nephews and other family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a special cousin, Roger Pence; and in-laws, Charles Ames, George Palmer, Nella Cipiti and Gail R. Hobbs.
There will be no services or visitation at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donation be made to OhioHealth Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio, 44903.
