Mt. Vernon showed it was ready to play, using an early thrust to carve out a 19-10 advantage over West Holmes as the first quarter ended.

The scoreboard blinked a 21-21 tie, as the two teams turned toward the third quarter.

West Holmes enjoyed a modest margin over Mt. Vernon with a 38-35 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

The Knights got the better of the final-quarter scoring, finishing the game in style with a 6-2 edge.
