Dorothy Margaret Fritz Pflueger went to be with the Lord on Feb 6, 2024. She was born on Aug 17, 1928 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Water and Martha (Drews) Fritz. Her father was a pastor, and they moved to Port Huron when she was a child. Growing up, she played the piano, would play the organ for church and sang for services. She went to High School in Port Huron, Mi. Dorothy attended Capital University in Bexley, Ohio, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education, focusing on math. She also sang in the Chapel Choir. While at Capital, she met the love of her life, Robert Pflueger. They married on June 3, 1951 in the chapel at Capital University.

After marrying Robert in 1951, they moved to Loudonville, Ohio, where Robert did his ministerial internship. Dorothy was a substitute teacher, and helped out with many things at the church, like the youth choir and confirmation classes. After spending the next year in Columbus, Dorothy and Robert moved to Ida, Michigan, to serve 2 churches there. Their first daughter, Miriam, was born in Monroe Mi in 1955.

In 1958 they moved to Thornville, Ohio, where they lived for 18 years. Dorothy subbed at Thornville Elementary, Glenford Junior High, and taught math at Liberty Union High School in Baltimore. Three children were added, Bethany, Jonathan and Sara.

In 1976 Dorothy and Robert moved to Loudonville, to the same church where Robert was an intern. Dorothy was again teaching math at Clearfork High School, and retired from Loudonville High School, where she taught advanced math classes. They built a house in Ashland, Ohio, where they lived out their retirement.

Dorothy and Robert helped organize and led many church groups tours. They visited: Greece, Italy, England, Ireland, Scotland, just to name a few. They also did several Alaska cruises.

Dorothy and Robert both enjoyed music very much. Dorothy sang in the church choirs, directed youth choirs, and at Trinity Lutheran Church she and Robert formed a quartet that sang for church services, nursing homes and special requests. At home, Dorothy loved to sing while Robert played the piano, and it was a joy to hear them.
