Rhea Lucille “Lou” Landis, 97 of Ashland went to be with her Lord and Savior early Friday morning, March 8, 2024, in the Bradford House at Brethren Care Village.
She was born on December 13, 1926, in Ashland the daughter of the late Ira W. and Katherine (nee Barnett) Roseborough.
Lou graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1945.
She married the love of her life, Theodore R. “Ted” Landis on August 3, 1952. They would make Ashland their home.
Lou retired after more than 40 years from Abbott Labs, previously Faultless Rubber company. She began her career as a ring roller for gloves and after 28 years, she was promoted to an office position in quality control.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Emblem Club of the Elks, V.F.W. Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital.
Throughout her life she enjoyed bowling in singles and mixed doubles leagues, playing cards, sewing, crocheting, embroidery work, painting Santa Clause’s, boating on Lake Erie, fishing, snowmobiling, and loved listening to gospel music, especially the Gaither’s.
Lou is survived by two sisters, Grace Anne (Phillip) Vermillion of Ashland and Lulu Vene “Beannie” Bowersock of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Lou is preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ted Landis who passed from this life on June 4, 2015; and her siblings, Blanche Murr, Marie Streit, Jim Roseborough, Sarah Crossen, and Roger, Robert, and William Roseborough.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Kevin McClain and Reverend Dennis Steele presiding. Interment will be in the Hazzard Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 320 Church Street, Ashland Ohio 44805 or to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1021 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
