ASHLAND – In honor of National Public Health week, the Ashland County Health Department is hosting a Senior Citizen Day on Thursday, April 4, from 1 to 3 p.m.
The health department is located at 1211 Claremont Ave.
At the event, participants will learn about falls prevention and have the chance to practice strength training exercises.
Height, weight, and blood pressure checks will be available in the Nursing Division, as will one-on-one vaccination reviews with a public health nurse. Please bring vaccination records if they are available. Genealogy and environmental health information will also be presented.
In addition, University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center will be onsite offering free bone density screenings during the event. Results will be available in about three minutes.
National Public Health Week is celebrated every April to recognize the work public health does to protect and improve the health of people in a community. Public health professionals focus on preventing problems from happening or recurring at the population level, and promotes health care equity, quality and accessibility.
