OLIVESBURG — On May 2nd and 3rd a group of Crestview high school FFA members attended the State FFA convention in Columbus.
The students that attended the convention included Gracie Dinsmore, Baileigh Cordery, Kiley Gano, Lexa Gano, Hazelle Cordrey, Alivia Dean, Serenity Perry, Shelby Lackey, Jessica Smith, Ella Sanderson, Erica Davisson, Karlee Morrison, Kandyce Abbot, Spencer Calame, Kolton Eichleberger, Jason Cain, Jermey Esbensahde, Kennith McGreggor, and Brennan Dilly.
While at the State Convention on Thursday, the members attended a Columbus Clippers baseball game, the Ohio State University walking tour, OSU bee and insect lab talk, visited OSU’s new innovative technology greenhouse, did leadership workshops, and then on Friday were at the convention center all day.
At the convention Gracie Dinsmore received her state degree, Bailey Cordrey received gold rated secretary and was in the State FFA choir, Erica Davisson received gold rated treasurer, and Kandyce Abbot was in the State FFA band.
“It was very fun, very hot, we went to the Franklin Park Conservatory, and toured OSU,” Dinsmore said. “During the tour at OSU we saw our past student teacher, and it was very nice to see her.
“We also went to see the bug and bee lab and the greenhouse, and it was very impressive. At the actual convention the president had a very good speech and I think it impacted a lot of people there. It was also very cool to get my state degree. I sat by some really nice people from the other Crestview in Ohio. It was also really cool to watch my officers get awards for doing so well on their books.”
Smith noted that going to the OSU greenhouse and getting to plant flowers to take home was a highlight.
“We went to the convention and watched some of our officers get awards for their books,” Smith said. “We also watched Baileigh and Kandyce perform in the state FFA band and choir.
“The State FFA Convention was beneficial to all students that attended and we look forward to attending next year to see the awards and recognition of our students.”
