William David “Bill” Kline, 77
William David “Bill” Kline, 77, of Ashland passed away Friday morning, May 17, 2024, at Crystal Care Center.
He was born on April 6, 1947, in Ashland, the oldest son of the late Curtiss E. “Dean” and Lucille (nee Mumaw) Kline.
Bill graduated from Mapleton High School, class of 1966. Following graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force.
He married the love of his life, the former Sharon Blake, on February 12, 1971.
Bill was a welder by trade and he retired after 11 years as the owner and operator of Active Metal & Molds. He was previously employed at Plymouth Locomotive Works and Pro Model in Florida.
He was a devoted member of the Bethel Baptist Church. He enjoyed watching Ohio State football, the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. He spent a lot of time farming and vegetable gardening, but he loved being around his family most of all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mrs. Sharon Kline of Ashland; two daughters, Wendy (Phil) Bergland of Vancouver, Washington, and Jennifer (Scott) Shafer of Willard; one son, Christopher Kline of Ashland; 12 grandchildren, Payge, Hannah, Carson, Keegan, Darick, Lillian, Tabitha, Joseph, Lavender, Ramona, Dixie, and Winter; three great grandchildren, Adaleigh, Walker, and Emersyn; one sister, Karie (Jeff) Reed of Avon Lake; and four brothers, Sam (Ann) Kline of Ashland, James (Tammi) Kline of Mifflin, Tim (Dorine) Kline of Nova and Garry (Cathy) Kline of Ashland; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by two brothers, Kenny and Terry Kline.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend John Bouquet presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call on Monday, May 20, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mission to Amish People, 575 US-250, Greenwich, Ohio 44837 or to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1021 Dauch Drive, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
