JEROMESVILLE — The makeup of Hillsdale’s board of education received a shakeup Tuesday night following the departure of former board vice president Nicholas Atterholt.

Atterholt announced his departure at the board’s February meeting, and sat in on his last meeting at Hillsdale in April.

At its meeting Tuesday night, Atterholt’s replacement, Keith Yeater, sat in on his first meeting, and the board elected Melinda Turk as the new vice president.

Turk began her first term on the Hillsdale board of education Jan. 1. She owns Ashland Cleaning and also serves as vice president on the Montessori School of Wooster’s board too.

Turk was elected in November 2023, and her term extends through 2027.

Yeater, who replaced Atterholt on the board, had his first meeting as a board member Tuesday, too.

Yeater told Ashland Source he works as a business consultant at Competitive Business Solutions, which is based out of New Jersey. He applied for his seat on the board, and will fill out the rest of Atterholt’s term, which extends to Dec. 31, 2025.

Yeater said he applied because he saw serving on the board as an opportunity to give back to the communith. He said he went through Hillsdale Local Schools, and his children also graduated from Hillsdale.

His dad served as Hillsdale’s first principal.

“It’s a great school that does a great job,” Yeater said.
