ASHLAND — Ashland University’s Dwight Schar College of Education has received accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
The CAEP is a non-profit accrediting body that works to improve the quality of educator preparation programs by ensuring that providers are legitimate and meet strong standards. Accredited programs are recognized for their ability to prepare graduates who are competent and caring educators.
In order to receive accreditation, the college must submit a review of its academic standards and peer review of its graduate placement. The CAEP also requires the college to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion in its programs and to use data to measure the impact of its programs.
“The college’s efforts to continuously improve and accredit its programs are part of its mission to create a better future for educators and for students. The accreditation of the Dwight Schar College of Education is a significant milestone in the college’s growth and will help to ensure that it remains an excellent place for educators to pursue professional development and excellence,” the university said in a press release.
