Loudonville-Perrysville Schools will tackle bullying through new programs.

LOUDONVILLE — Matt Sprang did a little bit of everything for Loudonville and he did it all well.

A senior shortstop and pitcher, Sprang was selected the Mid-Buckeye Conference Player of the Year after leading the Redbirds to an outright conference crown.

At the plate, Sprang hit .458 with 25 runs scored, 10 runs batted in and 10 doubles. On the mound, the right-hander was 3-5 with a 4.07 earned run average and 54 strikeouts in 44.2 innings of work.

Sprang was joined on the All-MBC first team by Loudonville teammates Hunter Polen, Judah Layton and Dilan Wade.

The rest of the first team included Lucas’ Jack DiBartolomeo, Judah Chamberlain and Anthony Fanello, Mansfield Christian’s Brock Rentzel, Crestline’s Quinten Kapp and Kidron Central Christian’s Bryan Martin and Luke Schrier.

Loudonville’s Caden Donaldson and Baylor Weiser, Lucas’ Ray Caudill, Crestline’s Auston Henson and Kidron Central Christian’s Lyle Endsley were selected to the second team. 

Honorable-mention picks included Mansfield Christian’s Zack Dumbeck, Loudonville’s Josh Serrato, Mansfield Christian’s Josh Hillman, Lucas’ Bobby Grover and Crestline’s Hunter Farrell.

Loudonville’s Matt Rucki was selected the MBC Coach of the Year. The Redbirds (11-13) were 7-1 in MBC play, a game ahead of runner-up Lucas.
